A 1999 FLSTF Fat Boy transformed from stock to stunning is the 2024-2025 Drag Specialties OldBook cover bike. It was designed and built by Shannon Reinhart of EDZ Motorcycle Service & Repair, a one-man motorcycle repair and customizing shop. “The idea behind this bike is ‘less is more,’” said Reinhart. “I looked at the overall bike design and tried to keep it simple – if it didn’t need something, I took it off. I wanted that classic bobber style, a lean, muscular look.” Reinhart stressed that this build really is something you can put together using the Drag Specialties OldBook. “The focus when working with Drag Specialties is using what is available in the catalog,” Reinhart said. “After the initial discussion I had about undertaking the build, I opened up the book, and just started to make a list of what I thought would result in a neat final bike.” Reinhart said it is typical the Drag team will give some direction or suggest certain parts get used in a build. “But when I submitted my initial parts list suggestion, they said ‘Hey, this should turn out great! You made our job a lot easier,’” laughed Reinhart. “They really didn’t change anything I suggested as far as vendor or product choices.” Parts list approved, the work began. “It really only took a couple of months to complete it,” Reinhart said. “The original deadline was for September, and that got moved back to August, so there was a little added pressure. But it worked out OK.” The front end is raked out using a set of Arlen Ness triple trees, with a Drag Specialties headlight nacelle kit to keep it clean and simple. “I put the headlight nacelle on as way to incorporate the front turn signals into the design for a strong, simple-looking front end.” The rear of the bike features a Russ Wernimont custom fender for an abbreviated, hot-rod look. “The rear has a custom-mount license plate frame with all the lighting incorporated into it – again, to Builder: Shannon Reinhart EDZ Motorcycle Service & Repair Paint: Nathan Bowers Paint Studio LLC ON THE COVER
