When you are in doubt about your sprockets or chain, replace both. Worn sprockets will significantly reduce the life of a new chain. A stretched chain wil 'chew up' new sprockets and could break. Chain maintenance Keep your chain clean & lubricated. Lube more often in adverse weather conditions. Keep correct chain tension. Remember suspension travel will influence tension. Marginal out of round sprockets, which is very common, create a tight spot. If a 'tight spot' exists, adjust your chain on this 'tightest spot'.
