Compatible with mechanical and e-throttle. With 1" diameter and 3-1/2" (9cm) center to center knurled clamping area. Approx. dimensions: 5" (12.5cm) end rise x 30" (76cm) overall width x 8" (20.5cm) center width x 2-1/8" (5.5cm) pullback. Note: Notched for electronic throttle. When used for cable throttle models, bar is just a little shorter on the throttle side. 08-23 H-D (excl. 08-11 Springers) with 1" I.D. risers 975530 Gloss black powder coated finish. Some basic facts about H-D handlebars to help you make the right decision when it comes to ordering a custom handlebar. Note: Actual fitment for specific applications is not guaranteed. Given here are basic model year fitments only. Depending on actual bar dimensions bars may or may not fit in combination with certain custom or stock fuel tanks, cables, instruments, fairings, wiring etc. pre-82 bars 1" diameter bars that do not have a 'dimple' (dent) for wiring. Bars are round but the stock switch housing itself has a cut-out to clear the wiring. 82-22 bars These handlebars are 'dimpled', This dimple is a small dent in the bar to provide enough space for the wiring to be routed out of the switch housing. They cannot be used with electronic throttle, unless specified. The XL Sportsters were never equipped with e-throttle, the last XL's were made in 2022. 08-23 Touring; 16-23 Softail; 2017 FXDLS These models are equipped with electronic throttle (ethrottle, throttle by wire, TBW, fly by wire or whatever you want to call it). These bars are not dimpled but slotted, this is an elongated machined hole for routing internal wiring. The main e-throttle difference is found on the throttle side where the bar has a larger inner diameter, is about a 1/2" (12.5mm) shorter and is notched to prevent the electronic control unit from rotating when the throttle is operated. A regular 82-22 style bar will therefore not fit. Therefore, bars for e-throttle will basically fit 82-22 models with mechanical throttle cables, but not the other way around. 15-23 FLTR Touring Comes with 1.25" bars & risers. Features a large oval internal wiring exit on front of riser/handlebar, requiring model specific bars or a change in risers where the use of a one-piece top clamp for strength is advised. Locating pins are used at risers & handlebar controls (for quicker factory assembly). Pin removal is possible, at your own risk, to allow installation of aftermarket bars and free rotational adjustment of handlebar controls. 88-11 Softail Springer bars The handlebar is 1" diameter, the center to center spacing of the risers is 4-1/2". Other H-D models have a spacing of just 3-1/2". This fact may present a problem when the handlebar is 'fat', and 1" diameter at the riser area only, or has a 'ribbed' 3-1/2" section to provide extra grip for the risers. Both will not match the wider 4-1/2" center to center spacing of Springer risers. Some 1" bars come without a ribbed section, these can be used for both 3-1/2 & 4-1/2" spaced models. Early Springer bars Found on early models like the 45" (750cc) and 74/80 inch Flatheads, Knuckles and early Panheads. The bar mounts to the center part of stock, or stock style, early Springer forks. These bars are not compatible with any other H-D model. FAT bars In general 1" diameter (25.4mm) is the 'standard' diameter for H-D handlebars and risers. Fatter bars, in 1-1/4" or even 1-1/2" are available for custom applications. These type of bars are still 1" diameter at the risers and at the handlebar controls, so stock controls and risers can be re-used and fit Fatbars without hassle. - Some later model Softail and Touring models are equipped with a Fatbar as standard, which actually is 1-1/4" at the risers as well. Switching to another aftermarket bar, for those models only, will require: A: The separate purchase of 1" diameter risers or B: A model specific handlebar that is 1-1/4" at the risers. C: Special riser adapters, 'fillers', to 'fill' the 1" riser area of a handlebar so the bar will fit 1-1/4" inside diameter risers. Bars for electronic throttle for cable throttle? E-throttle bars are notched on the right side to prevent the throttle sensor, in the bar-end, from rotating. The right side is overall shortened by about 1/2" to compensate for the sensor that sticks out about 1/2". Otherwise an e-throttle handlebar can also be used for use with mechanical cable style throttle grip. Some e-throttle bars come with a special insert, used only when installing the bar on a throttle cable bike, to compensate for the shorter right side bar length. tech-tip 20 82-22 denotes dimples in handlebars or slots to route wiring. These will fit 82-22 throttle cable H-D (excl. 08-up electronic throttle), unless specified otherwise.
