All saddlebags, side bags and sissy bar bags come with a 4mm thick HDPE (polyethylene thermoplastic) back panel, unless mentioned otherwise. This is same material of which, for instance, kayaks are made, to ensure maximum strength & shape retention under harsh conditions. The reinforcing plate is sewn onto the leather, giving it excellent strength and great universal mounting options. A special groove is cut into the HDPE back plate, allowing for lowered stitching in the groove, below the surface of the back plate. This protects stitching from abrasion. All bags are pre-treated with a special oil for maximum life and water resistance. All bags are hand-made by experienced personnel to ensure a continuous high quality standard. Saddlebag carriers The optionally available, model specific, saddlebag supports are mounting brackets which are mounted to the rear HDPE side of the bag, the support is mounted to the bike. The lower section of the saddlebag rests in the carrier retention section of the mounting rail, to keep it from moving sideways, while the mounting rail supports the lower side of the bag. A Locking Pin is included to make the bags quick detachable, if desired. Maintenance Ledrie saddlebags are manufactured to stand the test of time and use. Keeping leather in good shape is crucial for longlife, therefore all bags, excl. the Buffalo Brown finished bags, include a tin of leather grease. Correct periodic maintenance can give leather saddlebags a lifespan measured in decades! LEDRIE, REINFORCED RIGID DUAL LEATHER SADDLEBAG SETS FOR HARLEY The 'Rigid' saddlebags come with a very good shape retention due to the dual genuine leather manufacturing process. Reinforced with a HDPE back panel for a sturdy, dependable mounting option. Mounting note: These saddlebags can be used with the, below mentioned, universal Ledrie saddlebag carrier. Since motorcycle specific application and rider preference differs no hardware is included and no provisions are made to mount the saddlebag to saddlebag carrier. Holes can be drilled in the reinforced rear section of the saddlebag, at the desired point and installed to the universal carrier frame, which must be ordered separately, or custom made.
