Make sure you have all the parts at hand when you want to install the S&S Twin Cam gear driven cam. Here is a listing of what you will need. We've even thrown in some free tips! 1) An S&S gear driven camshaft set A bolt-in cam is easiest. When installing higher lift cams you must check for, and eventually provide, adequate clearance between intake to exhaust valve and valve to piston. The 625", 640" and 675" lift cams may also require crankcase clearancing. 2) Outer cam drive gear set Required with all S&S gear driven cams. This set can be re-used when you replace an S&S gear driven cam for another grind. Note that material may have to be removed from the inner surface of the OEM gear cover before installation of the S&S drive gears. 503577 99-06 TCA/B (excl. 2006 Dyna) 531265 06-17 Dyna; 07-17 Softail; 07-16 Touring 3) Twin Cam cam installation support kit Provides all parts needed to install the S&S Gear Driven Twin Cam camshafts. Comes complete with a replacement gear cover gasket, inner and outer cam ball bearings and retaining ring. S&S recommends to use the ball bearing design over the OEM roller bearing design. OEM bearings have more internal clearance which can cause more gear noise. The improved ball bearings are included in this S&S kit, as is the S&S Heavy Duty cam bearing retainer plate. 503566 99-06 Twin Cam (excl. 2006 Dyna) 531268 06-17 Dyna; 07-17 Softail; 07-16 Touring 4) Adjustable pushrods Required with all S&S gear driven cams, except with the 510G (bolt-in) style cam. These are necessary since, apart from the 510G, S&S gear driven cams come with a smaller than stock base circle. This makes a longer than stock pushrods necessary. This set fits all Twin Cam models with stock cylinder length. Note: 07-17 Twin Cam need 84-99 Evo B.T. style pushrod covers. S&S adjustable pushrods Requires removal of rocker covers / gas tanks. 503573 99-17 TCA/B with stock length cylinders (note) S&S Quickee adjustable pushrods No need to remove gas tanks or rocker covers. 512516 99-17 88"-124" Twin Cam; 17-21 M8; 91-21 XL. Note: XL Sportster requires multiple-parts pushrod covers 5) Valve springs Stock springs can be used with all 510G cams and with 570G cams for 0617 Dyna, 07-17 Softail and 07-16 Touring models up to 6200 RPM. All other applications or higher RPM´s will require high lift performance springs. 6) Special tools A hydraulic press and other specialty tools are required to install S&S gear driven cams. Motorcycle Storehouse can supply these tools, apart from the hydraulic press. See the optional tools listing on the right side of this page. Note: Apart from the ones mentioned here, tools are no longer shown in this Master Catalog. See our Tools Catalog for our complete tool range, surf to our website for the digital version, or contact your Motorcycle Storehouse sales representative or dealer. Optional parts 7) Head gasket set Required only when you pull the heads, like when checking for valve to valve clearance. 8) Under & oversized cam gears Not directly necessary for installation, but nice to know they are available to overcome machining variations in the stock H-D cam plate. In some cases over or undersized cam gears may be required to achieve correct gear lash. 99-06 Twin Cam (excl. 2006 Dyna) Rear inner cam gear -- Undersize -- Oversize Pinion gear 503713 Undersize 531274 Standard 503714 Oversize Outer cam drive gear Std replacement. 531270 Standard camshaft set Installation support kit Outer drive gear set Adjustable pushrods Tools Valve springs SEE THE MOTORCYCLE STOREHOUSE TOOL CATALOG!
